It's fine... I plan to stay here and not have to worry about it. At least you already know my secrets.

...I truly would cut out my tongue and drown in my own blood to keep from uttering a word of their secrets. The same of yours.

[His eyebrows rise, but he's by no means upset by it. Quite the opposite.]

Time travel, I assume? Had I any such skills to offer, I would do the same, for any of you.

...If you can speak of it, does that mean I'm already an exception?

Then put me under oath too. Be certain I can say nothing under effects like these. It would Be preferable to having to kill myself.

[If he tries to ignore the idea of being able to time travel he won't have to blurt out how badly it makes him want to save his mother, right?]

[At least it would be more productive than dwelling on the idea that an 8 year old should have saved her and he's useless and weak because he couldn't. And therefore has to become the single most powerful thing in existence to make up for it.]

Hmm... No, I don't think so. That's clearly been effective enough for you so far. If there's anything else you want to keep me silent about, that would be fine too.

You want me to not be able to speak of hugging you?

[He's kind of amused by that.]

Wildfire and Glacies?

[Well he's not complaining about it, that makes no difference to him. The rest is all fine too, and seeing as he's never had to have a signature, he hopes just writing "Vergil" is good enough.

At least he's finally learnt how to spell it. Does he have a surname? He doesn't know, probably not.]

I feel honoured to know.

[That sounds so extreme when he says it...]

And I'm glad you can. How has it been going?

I would be interested in seeing your notes, if you have any.

Did you two really just accidentally become such close friends despite yourselves?

[That's cute, Five.]

[He will not pass up the opportunity to read those. But he will try to play off just how excited he is about it. Because it's far too much. As passionate as he is about literature, it's knowledge of magic concepts he most wants to consume. And that's hard to come by.]

How sweet. I thought he was a bit of a busybody at first, myself.

-- When did you get a dog?

[Why does everyone have cute pets, why is he endeared by them, he's a big bad demon man he shouldn't want to pet the dog...!!

He'll let him sleep though and indeed sit on the bed. Someone's moving up in the world, getting organised.

He flips through the notes at first to get a general idea.]

I guess I will have to get better at math... Can I borrow these for a day or two, or should I keep them in here?

[Mr Pennycrumb. He's not going to ask. There must be a reason. Maybe later.]

I'd appreciate that. It looks like I'll need to, in order to make sense of this. Congratulations, you'll have me educated yet.

Hm. I've done nothing with my life, no purpose as far as I've been able to discern. Besides survival and killing my brother, I suppose. There's nothing I need or want it for. Lahabrea and Emet-Selch have given a few lectures and demonstrations as well and I find it fascinating, although it may only be entertainment.

If I can learn of some new magic concept, I find myself not just eager but desperate to know.
